1 1/2 Pounder Posts: 925 Joined: March 03, 2011	I have this OLD roaster with the 3 original bags of green coffee beans. It has the manuals, too. It works and cools down at the end. I have not roasted with it. Just turned it on, watched the timer, felt the heat, felt the cool down. Any idea of the value? I am not listing this for sale, at this time. I just want a feel. Administrator Posts: 3652 Joined: February 23, 2010	Hi Ken, I thought I'd update you on my thoughts on the Hearthware roaster you so kindly sold me for no more than the cost of shipping. Using a 15 amp variac, I'm still doing sample and morning press pot roasts using this roaster and even though it frustrates the heck out of me, I've gotten some of the finest roasts out of it than from all of my previous and current roasters. Another puzzling outcome is that after sampling roasts in it for a year now and performing multiple experiments with various profiles, the best roasts are by letting it run its natural curve from start to finish with no change of power input after start of roast. In fact, with the colder outdoor temps this week, I took it outdoors in 48 degree ambient, without the variac and ran a fine Kenya from Happymug through it and total roast time with 1 min 15 sec into first crack came out to 5 min 15 sec. I was expecting an underdeveloped grassy cup but this morning it brewed up one of the finest Kenyas I've had in a couple of years. 1/2 lb and 1 lb drum, Siemens Sirocco fluidbed, presspot, chemex, cajun biggin brewer from the backwoods of Louisiana
