With a "Fresh Roast SR800" in Arizona

I am here in Tucson, Arizona. I picked up a Fresh Roast SR800 back in July and have been roasting ever since, but have a strong feeling that I can take my roasting to a "higher level" if I learn some things here.

I have already had my machine apart and am investigating the options to add my own control. I would like to be able to set up profiles and have the roaster run them. My career has been software, electronics, and device control so this ought to be possible with some more effort. But I should take this dicussion to a more appropriate spot elsewhere.
