FluidBed Working Parameters: FB Best Practice Chart

Hello all. This thread will be dedicated to collecting "best practice" data from your fluidbed roasters with the aim of building a spreadsheet that will include all of the basic roaster parameters such as roast chamber style, shape, size, inlet diameter, heater type and wattage etc. The purpose of it is to give new builders a place to start on their popper mod or new fluidbed build with the least amount of fiddling and redesign to get it to work properly.

When you post, please include the following data on your roaster:

-Scratchbuilt, popper or other
-Optimum green coffee batch size
-Roast chamber dimensions, inlet diameter and type (asymmetrical or conical or flat bottom), extension tube dimensions etc
-Heater wattage
-Blower type and wattage
-Blower and heater control information
-other pertinent information

I'll take a stab at the first post for my fluidbed

Sirocco roaster- (made by Siemens company)
optimum batch- 4 oz (113 grams)
RC dimensions- 3 15/16" diameter (100mm), screened inlet diameter .75" (19mm). bottom geometry is conical (2.25" 57mm cone height) RC material = glass
Heater power-1200 watts
centrifugal blower wattage- unknown
heater and blower- actuated by spring powered timer
heater power- controlled by LDR (light dependent resistor) that senses IR emission coming from the nichrome element and a comparator circuit maintains a constant power output based on the IR emission and is offset by an on-board thermistor ambient temperature sensor in series with the LDR.
1/2 lb and 1 lb drum, Siemens Sirocco fluidbed, presspot, chemex, cajun biggin brewer from the backwoods of Louisiana

Current green coffee batch: 8oz (227g) Limited by Heater
Roast chamber dimensions:
RC Conical Stainless Steel Mug Base: 170mm in length, Base OD = 69mm, Top ID = 80mm
RC Glass Extension: 150mm in length OD = 79.5mm, ID = 74.5mm
Heater wattage: 1400 Watts
Vents: Drilled hole pattern (Not the screen version)
Blower: Mastercraft Bench Blower Motor model: RS775S
Blower and heater control:
1: Digital Motor Speed Controller PWM Stepless Governor Regulator Start Stop Switch Percentage Tachometer DC6-60v 12V 24V 36V 48V
2: 10000W SCR Digital Voltage Regulator Module Board Speed Control Dimmer Thermostat AC 220V 80A
