Roaster908 Design and Operation

I finally got around to making a short video. Here are some featured highlights of the Roaster908 and its roast process. My preferred batch size is now around the 2-pound limit of the machine. It can finish roasting in about 11-14 minutes depending on the power profile used and the desired end temperature. Over the past 18 months, it has processed around 100 kilograms of beans and everything is still working well on the unit. Basic maintenance involves disassembling the top lid to clean the roast chamber viewing glass from time to time... it gets oiled up after many roasts. Hope you like it!

I second the pretty darn cool!! So, for the record, of all the commercial roasters and homebuilts I've been able to view over the years, your 908 is hands down superior to all of them in the bean agitation smoothness category. Never seen anything like this! I didn't think achieving almost perfect bean fluidity was possible without using 100% convection as a conveyance.
I really like the visibility of the roast process.

Keep us up to date on further tweaks and your thoughts on cup quality from the roasts.

Thanks Allen, your comments are appreciated. The design intent was to keep the beans as homogenous and fast-moving as possible for efficient heat transfer. The roast as seen in the video has the beans occupying about 2.5 liters volume at the end of the roast process. The total energy input was approximately 580 watt-hours.
