Air blower vs vaccum cleaner pump
vihitk
I'm thinking about building a new fluid bed roaster. But I can't find a vaccum cleaner motor, like this one https://www.amazo...B07MVNWHF2 which are one of most suggested air source option in these forum, in my locality with ease. I wanted to ask if someone has used an air blower like this one https://amzn.eu/d... with any success?
I'm using a square base with for heating chamber and a borosilicate glass tube of 5" diameter and 14" height, target weight of my roast is 300 grams. Can I used the air blower option or are there any downsides in using it?

The second is much better, the first is way too powerful.
Even 800W are too much for 300 grams, imo. You should reduce motor thrust/rpm to such a degree that risk reaching the area of unsafe usage, where you can experience thrust variations and risk of rotation stop.
I have such leaf blower featuring a 400W motor, that was capable of exhausting quite violently half pound of roasted beans. At full power, connected directly to mains, no speed variator...

Vihitk, too bad you're not staying in the same country as me. I have 2 new 1500w ceramic heating elements. Bought in end 2019 to build a hot air roaster but got more and more ambitious until it became a 8000+ watt one.

Looking for someone to give the elements to.
