So after over a year of successful roasting on my read machine, i am ready to step it up to something a little bigger and better. My goal is a 1 kilo drum roaster. My budget is as little as possible. I have been reading on here and trying to start piecing it all together. There is a lot i still do not understand when it comes to the parts and what will and will not work. So far i plan to make my drum a 8 by 8 in octogon. Thatll give me roughly 10 liters of volume not considering my blades on the inside. I have an idea or a motor to turn it and want to know i anyone has tried it. I can get a 1/3 hp or even 1/2 hp motor from an ac evaporator fan. I dont know if this will be too powerful, underpowered, or if the weight will burn up the motor due to it not being designed to turn a load. I can handle the wiring on it pretty easily. For my ventilation im going to use a 4in blower from a furnace that is relitively heat resistant planning on putting it a variable speed knob. My questions are 1 opinions on the drum, any? 2. Has anyone used a AC an motor before? Yes, no. Work or not? |
